DEFINITION : Mutual aid is “cooperation for the sake of the common good.”

It’s getting people to come together to meet each other’s needs, recognising that as humans, our survival is dependent on one another

Wembley Central Mutual Aid is currently in the process of formalising the group in order to be registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. This will allow us to have access to funding and grants in the future.

We plan to continue to stay focussed on the needs of the local people and aim to help disadvantaged groups where we can. This will likely take the form of short or fixed term projects rather than ongoing ones, as many of our volunteers return to work following the lockdown and their ability to commit to long term projects reduces.

We have also recently set up a WhatsApp group of members with a variety of digital skills, who are going to help us set up accounts on various social media outlets and perhaps create a website too.

In addition to this we will continue to raise awareness of our group within the local community to encourage people to join and continue to build the long term relationships that have been forming through the last few months.
